Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the New York Edge family! My name is Melanie Callaghan and I am
the program director for the New York Edge after school program at Queens Gateway.
We are so excited to start a new school year with some many new students and some
of our beloved returning students. This year, we are finally starting to look a little more
normal and have so many things in store for your children. I want to first ensure you that
we take the safety of our students and staff seriously. We are following all the protocols
placed by the CDC, Department of Health, Department of Education, Queens Gateway,
and New York Edge. We sanitize our materials and equipment after every use, students
are required to sanitize their hands multiple times throughout the program and are
required to wear masks, except when eating or drinking.

At New York Edge, we are committed to supporting our students and guiding
them to explore their own talents and skills. I have placed our daily schedule below so
that families can see the activities we run on a day to day basis. The program is split
into three sessions, season one runs from September to December, season two runs
January to April, and season three is April to June. Each season, the schedule will have
different activities based on the wants and needs of the students' interests. We are
required to hold STEM and Leadership activities all year round, so those activities will
remain on the schedule. We do provide tutoring and homework help everyday for the
students and speak to the teachers regularly to keep up with our students' school work
to best assist them where needed.

Attached to this letter is the after school application. New York Edge has recently
updated the applications to include some medical and covid forms. I apologize for the
inconvenience but it is crucial that this updated application is completed to its
ENTIRETY. Signatures are required on every page, if the application is not completed, it
will be returned home for completion. Please make sure these applications are
completed even if you already returned an application since this application
attached is the new and updated form required for participation in the program.
