What is SEL (Social and Emotional Learning)?
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is defined as an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.
SEL at Queens Gateway
To foster community and awareness of social and emotional health, we would like to ask you to join us in in implementing the SEL strategies to improve our first competency of Self Awareness and Social Awareness (including how we identify and process our emotions and reflect on our own strengths and identities and including the ability to empathize and take the perspectives of others from similar and diverse backgrounds).
